Daggerfall Unity - A Unity Engine TES2 Reimplementation

Daggerfall Unity was started as "Unity Tools of Daggerfall" and expanded into a complete re implementation of Daggerfall's assets and game into the Unity Engine. It is an active project that has recently reached the development milestone of having the entire main quest complete in the engine. Recently contributes to the project have finished all the guilds and merchant side-quests as well.

In short, Daggerfall Unity is reaching completion. It has an active set of people developing assets and simple mods. Here's an example of what a modder did with a very early, rough version of the Unity Tools for Daggerfall

So in terms of ability to be modded, the game is looking very nice. I'm far more excited about what kinds of mods will be applied to this framework, than the actual game itself. Less so with graphical mods as seen above, and more along the lines of how the game could be changed and additions made to it.

All aspects of this projects development seem to be chugging along at full speed, and while people asking "When" is fruitless in a free project people do in their spare time, I'm really optimistic about it's development. It has multiple contributors working on it and just a peak at his twitter timeline shows very active development.

For those who would like to compare it to DaggerXL. Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall had for a time an engine known as DaggerXL pending release. The XLEngine was an attempt to completely rebuild the original XEngine and it made significant progress before hitting a dead end. The site for DaggerXL is now covered in spambots and it's unlikely the project is going anywhere, compared to the very active community that's grown up around DFUnity.

So those comparisons put to bed, if anyone here is interested in Elder Scrolls 2, they should see the above links as the project can always use more contributors and/or modders.
