Mod Review General Discussion

Postby Toccatta » Sun Apr 14, 2013 11:45 pm

If you have questions or concerns about the reviewing process or the rules and guidelines of the review forum, please post them on this board. That's what it's for. Questions or concerns about a specific review should be posted in that review.

Please keep in mind that we're still trying to "fine tune" the reviewing process in order to create a truly helpful voting/reviewing area. The rules are subject to change as new issues come to light, and members are encouraged to offer suggestions and comments on how they can be improved. If you have an idea, please speak up, but understand that not all suggestions will make it into the review process.

Also please keep in mind that the only requirements regarding who may write reviews are as follows:

1) You must have actually used the mod to review it in any category other than "Concept". You can always review the idea behind a mod.
2) If you're the modder that created the mod or had a significant hand in creating it, you can't review that mod. You are more than welcome to post a thread for your mod inviting others to review it, as well as respond to reviews and answer questions. But to avoid conflict of interest, please don't write a review of your own work.

That's it. No licenses, no college courses, no seminars or certificates... nothing. Nobody should feel they're unqualified to write a review. If you have an opinion, don't be afraid to share it.

As to what qualifies as a "mod", that's pretty much anything that isn't part of the retail distribution of the game. Whether it's an audio update, a quest mod, a large game-altering monstrosity, or just a simple texture change... if it isn't part of the original game, then it's a mod and you're welcome to review it. DLC (downloadable content) updates are usually not considered "mods" in the standard sense, but if you have a desire to review one, feel free.
