Mournhold Clockmaker
Author: Negedo & Barabus
Requires: Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon

Description:
"Mournhold Clockmaker" adds a Breton artisan to Mournhold, who makes and sells a wide range of fine quality, chiming clocks.

All of the clocks feature high quality, original artwork and include individual combinations of original sound effects. They are fully animated through Morrowind Script and synchronized with game time.

The mod includes an optional quest which provides a lore-sensitive background for the existence of clocks in Morrowind.

To initiate the quest, speak with the clockmaker.

Mournhold Clockmaker
Author: Negedo & Barabus

I've been using this mod in my game for several years now. And while I can't honestly say, "I couldn't play Morrowind without it", it's an excellent addition to the game. I can highly recommend it for people that like to customize their character's private home.

Concept: Very good

Clocks seem such a natural thing to see in the world that it's sort of surprising that Bethesda didn't include them. In addition to adding a number of high-quality time pieces, it also includes a quest/story line of moderate length. The quest is optional, and while it is interesting, it isn't particularly complex... which can be either good or bad depending on personal preference. I could have stood for it to be a bit more involved.

Lore Accuracy: Good

The clock faces use roman numerals. Since the Daedric alphabet doesn't appear to include numbers, this seems practically unavoidable. The existence of clocks within the game is explained well and justified in dialog with the clockmaker.

Design: Superb

The clock-maker's shop is well laid out and includes a home where you can find his wife. The shop and home are both laid out extremely well and actually give the impression of a workshop in use. The optional quest takes place in a number of locations which are equally well designed and fit in seamlessly with the rest of the game. The clocks are such beautiful pieces that they practically qualify as artwork.

Attention to detail: Excellent

I would have given this one a "superb" as well except for the fact that the swinging of the pendulum is tied to the game's timescale. If the player has adjusted the timescale to something slower, either for a more relaxed pace or to make "needs" mods like Necessities of Morrowind easier to deal with, it can cause the pendulum to slow to a crawl. As such, it looks awkward at any rate other than the default 30. The meshes for the various clock components are (in some cases) quite elaborate, and the textures are very detailed work. Not only are each of the clocks very different in overall design, but even the small details such as the shape of the hands are unique for each one.

Technical Achievement: Excellent

Again, this would have earned a "superb" if not for the pendulum. The scripting is first rate and quite clever in how it manipulates multiple meshes together into a working whole. Each clock is actually composed of several separate objects that are moved in tandem by the script to reproduce a completely functional clock, including the minute and hour hand, as well as a pendulum on some of the larger clocks. Nevertheless, even though the clock is actually multiple objects, it is handled as one and is easily picked up and moved from place to place.

Known incompatibilities: The clock maker's shop is located in the same corner of the Craftsman's hall as the furniture vendor from Morrowind Crafting.
